Milind Lele is a prominent Marathi filmmaker known for socially resonant and engaging narratives. His 2012 film Kurukshetra is a political drama about a collector who fights for public rights against a powerful MLA. Bandishala (2019), a women-centric crime drama starring Mukta Barve, won four Maharashtra State Film Awards and was submitted to the Cannes Film Festival. In 2020, Lele directed AB Aani CD, a Marathi–Hindi comedy featuring Amitabh Bachchan, released theatrically and later on Amazon Prime Video.
