Synopsis : The concept of this travelogue is inspired by the Chalo India campaign - a call for more of the diaspora to visit India. This pilot episode will be the first of a 12-part series exploring the many different parts of India which we believe will demonstrate the nature and variety of India’s past and present together with the vibrancy of its huge and diverse population. This episode is centered on Varanasi/Banaras which is one of the world's oldest continually inhabited cities Kashi, its ancient name, was associated with a kingdom of the same name 2,500 years ago. The highlight of this program is Eric’s visit to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The Maha Kumbh Mela is a grand assembly of rituals, with the bathing ceremony reigning supreme as the most significant of them all. At the Triveni Sangam, millions of pilgrims come together to partake in this sacred practice. It is firmly rooted in the belief that by immersing oneself in the holy waters, one can cleanse yourself of all sins, liberate both yourself and your ancestors from the cycle of rebirth, and ultimately attain Moksha, or spiritual liberation. The documentary also reveals the unique qualities of today’s Indians as confident and curious with a truly welcoming attitude to life, work and the people they meet, whatever their backgrounds. It’s an upbeat episode full of music, colors, food and the amazing people of India who take pride in their traditions mixed with an energy and urge for modernity that is powering India to the top rank of 21st Nations.

Rajdeep Choudhury is a British Indian film actor who has appeared in
‘Jack and Dill’,’ Netflix film Mister Mummy’ and ‘IraH’. He has upcoming lead roles
with 3 major Indian Production Houses whilst his recent British film ‘A Teacher’s Gift’
sees him as writer and lead actor. He has also been filming in Andrew Lau’s new feature
film ‘Kashmir Princess’ this year in China as one of the key characters in the story.
