The Settlers / Los Colonos


Synopsis : Chile, 1901. A wealthy landowner hires three horsemen to mark out the perimeter of his property and open a route to the Atlantic Ocean across Patagonia. The expedition, composed of a young Chilean mestizo, an American mercenary and a reckless British lieutenant, soon turns into a “civilizing” raid.

Felipe Gálvez Haberle is a Chilean film director, screenwriter, and editor. He is best known by his directorial debut film The Settlers which was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the 76th Cannes Film Festival who also competed for Un Certain Regard and Caméra d'Or.
