Synopsis : While on a hunting expedition, King Harishchandra hears the cries of a few women. When he reaches the spot, he sees Sage Vishvamitra performing a yajna to get Triguna Shakti(three powers) help him against their will. The king saves the three powers, but unknowingly halts Vishvamitra’syajna. The remorseful king offers his kingdom to Vishvamitra. But Vishvamitra orders the king, his wife and their son Rohitashva to live in exile. Later when Rohitashva dies, Harishchandra sends Taramati to ask the Dom king to arrange for his cremation. Vishvamitra frames Taramati for Kashi prince’s murder. She is ordered to be beheaded by Harishchandra. However, when Harishchandra raises his sword to complete his task, Lord Shiva appears. Vishvamitrathen discloses that he was testing Harishchandra’s integrity. Pleased, he returns the crown to Harishchandra and brings his son back to life.
